Centennial Events
The FPCCS Centennial activities and events are well underway at our church! Here’s a calendar of what’s already happened and what’s ahead as we celebrate this special time in our church’s history. This calendar will be updated regularly as more details become available.
2011 ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
AUGUST 7, 2011 – A special church service was held to commemorate the Missionary women who gathered in August 1911 to pray and take the first steps toward forming our church.

OCTOBER 22, 2011 – Centennial Tea 2:00 to 4:00 pm. This event included a variety of refreshments, entertainment by Barbara Dexter, harpist, a Victorian fashion show, and a presentation on the history of our church.

2012 ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
JANUARY 8, 2012 – A special church service was held offering the congregation the opportunity to renew their Baptismal Vows.

FEBRUARY 25-26, 2012 – Dr. Buz Myers, Chairman of Religion Department at Gettysburg College, will lead a half-day retreat on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. on “Getting to Know the Gospel of Mark.” This will supplement our Centennial Year of the Bible. He will be the guest preacher at both services on Sunday.

MARCH 11, 2012 – At 4:00 p.m. Dennis Dewey, internationally renowned Biblical Storyteller, will do a one person recital of the Gospel of Mark. He has traveled around the world to tell Mark from memory with dramatic flair.

APRIL 2012 – To Be Announced
MAY 19, 2012 – Composer John Bell of the Iona Community of Scotland will lead a day-long workshop on the “importance of congregational song.” Come and sing your heart out with a composer whose music we regularly sing. John will also be with us to lead the singing on Sunday.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE 2012 – Our church will again participate in the parade with a car and banners representing our church.
JUNE 2-3, 2012 – Reserve for special Gospel Service event.
JULY 8, 2012 – Guest preacher Reverend Vernon Towne.
AUGUST 18-19, 2012 – Family Retreat Weekend at Camp Lackawanna. This fun weekend will include a Camping/Canoe Trip on August 18th and a Centennial Church Service and Picnic on August 19th.

SEPTEMBER 16, 2012 – Special Hymn Service

2013 ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
APRIL 2013 – Meeting of Presbytery at our church to commemorate making our church an official member of the Presbytery.
