Christian Education and Worship
Our dedicated and caring Sunday School teachers for pre-kindergarten through grade twelve are responsible for providing our young people with a Christian education that is at once practical and Bible-based, along with activities that will equip them with a fuller understanding of Jesus Christ’s gospels and a greater appreciation of God’s wonder. Sunday School classes for adults are held at the same time as the youth Sunday School classes.
Call the Church Office at 586-6306 for more information any of these Christian Education and Worship opportunities.
Christian Education & Worship opportunities for young people include:
“A Time with Children”
During each Sunday service, young children in the congregation are invited up to the front of the sanctuary by our pastor, Rev. Bill Carter, or our Director of Educational Ministries, Will Cosnett, for a special message and prayer. This message parallels the adult sermon topic for that day but is presented in a way that even the youngest child can grasp. This “conversation” between Rev. Carter or Will Cosnett and the children is a highlight of each Sunday service, not just for the kids, but for the adults in the congregation as well. The children (through grade four) are then invited to Children’s Worship in Room 110.
Youth Sunday School
Young people from age 3 to twelfth grade learn about God, Jesus Christ and the Bible through regular Sunday School sessions. These classes are held at 10:15 – 11:00 am following the first church service, from the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday before Memorial Day. Separate classes are held for the following age groups:
- Age 3 through Kindergarten
- 1st through 3rd Grade
- 4th through 6th Grade
- 7th through 12th Grade
Each class is taught by a Sunday School teacher and a teacher’s assistant. The two youngest groups join together for ten minutes of singing each Sunday before going to their own classrooms. Topics for upcoming Sunday School classes are listed in our church’s monthly newsletter, The Presbyter; in each Sunday’s church bulletin; and on this Website.
Vacation Bible School
Every summer First Presbyterian Church offers a one-week Vacation Bible School for children pre-kindergarten through elementary grades. Children learn Bible stories and songs and do crafts and games for an active week of fun, learning and fellowship.

Topics for upcoming Sunday School classes are listed in our church’s monthly newsletter, The Presbyter; in each Sunday’s church bulletin; and on this Website.
