The purpose of the Mission & Justice Committee of First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit is to provide church and community members with the opportunity to serve as Christ’s disciples. Following Christ’s teaching, we seek to minister to those in greatest need, seeking equality, challenging injustice and working towards a world of peace.
We strive to transform our words into action through gifts of time, talent and money. As God’s children, we have individual gifts that allow us to respond in different ways, all of which are equally important. Here is a summary of recent outreach efforts of the Mission & Justice Committee:

Education – Series on Aging, Missionaries, SCS classes on the environment, domestic violence, capital punishment, hunger, immigration, Darfur, Sudan, Haiti, Uganda.
Volunteerism – Service trips through Youth Works, SERRV, Heifer International, Beyond Borders, Service trips through denomination to Ghana and Louisiana (Hurricane Katrina victims), refugee family from Afghanistan, Haiti.
Lifestyle – Alternative gift market, recycling, Presbyterian Coffee Project.
Prayer – Prayer Chain. (See Prayer & Share group on the “Activities” page.)
Donations (financial & other) – Women’s Resource Center, Haiti, Hurricane Katrina, Safety Net, Ghana, Uganda, Bethel AME Soup Kitchen, St. Francis Soup Kitchen, Catherine McCauley Center, AEM Food Pantry, Souper Bowl, One Great Hour of Sharing, Christmas Joy Offering, Pentecost Offering, Peacemaking Offering.
Advocacy – Bread for the World, Women’s Resource Center, Children’s Advocacy Center of NEPA, SCOLA Volunteers for Literacy, PCUSA.
